Delhi Boy, Who Killed Milan Fashion Week, Reveals How He Landed His Dream Job

In a proud moment for the country, many Indian designers, models and influencers were invited to exhibit at the recently concluded prestigious global event in Milan and Paris Fashion Week. While blogger Masoom Minawala became the first influencer to walk as a showstopper, Vaishali S became the first Indian female designer to exhibit in Milan. Amid many Indian faces who showed up at the event this year, a 24-year-old boy from Delhi set the global stage ablaze.

Killing the international ramp for Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani, Saurabh Chaudhary has fulfilled his dream of swaggering on the international runway. During a photo op with Times of India, Saurabh spoke about his journey and the experience he has gained so far.

Speaking about the opportunity he had to walk for luxury Italian fashion houses, Saurabh called it “pure luck” and revealed that it was very difficult to break the selection process, as there was a large number of people queuing, including several big names. While detailing how he got to Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani, the 24-year-old said: “The selection process was really difficult. There were hundreds of models in line to audition for the show and there were also big names who were in line but couldn’t make it. I was selected and I would call it pure luck.

Saurabh, who started his modeling career in 2017 at a Delhi-based agency, revealed he was extremely “fascinated by a few internationally renowned brands” and included D&G and Giorgio Armani in the list. He feels thrilled to have reached the mainstream despite not having white skin.

“I’m very happy to represent India and so happy that now the designer has started allowing a segment in his shows for brown skin or let’s say, Indian models,” he said. Saurabh further spoke of an incident that made him “proud” of our country and receiving international recognition in the fashion world.

He said: “When he (Giorgio Armani) came for our fitting session, he pointed at me and told me to see ‘Indiano’, as if this outfit was specially designed for this Indian who stood there. I can’t express how proud I was that we finally got worldwide recognition. During his early modeling days, the international model used to go for a casting call in the nation’s capital, where he even had the opportunity to work with a few prominent names in the fashion world.
