TikTok unveils #BlackTikTok campaign and celebrates black creatives during Black History Month


Today, TikTok is unveiling its #BlackTikTok campaign to celebrate Black History Month. The platform kicks off Black History Month to celebrate #BlackTikTok – a defining the industry community that is continually initiating, innovating and setting trends, according to a statement shared with BLACK BUSINESS.

TikTok celebrates creators who have inspired mainstream audiences and continue to drive culture right now.

App celebrates and honors #BlackTikTok all month and beyond, with Pendry West Hollywood billboard takeover, new in-app stickers, black music playlists and lineup TikTok LIVE that spotlights black creators making waves on and off the platform.

For the month of February, TikTok will host LIVES that will spotlight Black creators, musicians, businesses and organizations. Starting February 4 and every week this month, TikTok will launch a variety of themed programs celebrating those who make an impact in the entertainment industry and in their community.

On February 23, TikTok will partner with iHeartRadio for iHeart Living Black!, a LIVE event celebrating black music on TikTok and beyond. Hosted by DJ envythe LIVE show features an all-star lineup of performances from A-List talent, including Lizzo, Big Sean, SHE, Lil Durk, Moneybagg Yo and Ari Lennox and will feature special appearances by Saweetieradio personalities like Charlamagne and Angela Yeeactress Niece Nash and much more. Tune in Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on @iheartradio to see iHeartLivingBlack and help celebrate the culture.

Throughout February, hit the hashtag #BlackMusic to see the art form’s vast array on TikTok, ranging from genre-defining and chart-busting hits to Lil Nas X Where 24kGoldR&B sounding sweet like OVERLOOK and Muni Long, rock music from newcomers like WILLOW and legends like chuck berry. Check out the tag to view live performance clips, relive memorable moments, learn about sampling and tweens, listen to verses from talented creators, and enjoy music from rap stars like Megan you stallion, Gunna, Coi Leray, Naughty Santana and many more.

The app looks forward to honoring and celebrating the excellence that is #BlackTikTok, by sharing the stories of black creators this month and throughout the year, according to a press release. TikTok is thrilled to announce the 2022 Black TikTok Trailblazers. These creators are the next generation of entertainment leaders, nominated by the TikTok community for their creativity, passion, and authenticity. Trailblazers participate in campaign events and share their stories throughout Black History Month, helping to amplify the #BlackTikTok community.

@cultureunfiltered – Culture Unfiltered is run by a former radio host and music blogger masani moussa. It is a hub for music discovery and dialogue around popular culture and new trends in music.

@emmanuelduverneauEmmanuel Duverneau is a 25-year-old content creator whose love for experimentation in the kitchen stems from his mother’s cooking lessons. Emmanuel shares his passion for both dancing and cooking on TikTok and hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams and keep doing what they love.
